Being pro Johnny doesn’t mean you should be a misogynistic piece of shit. This isn’t mainly about false accusations. It’s about acknowledging male dv victims, which surprise surprise is a rare phenomenon because of the damn patriarchy. Male victims deserve to be heard as well as female victims.

peacesmovingcabaret:

Acknowledging that women can be just as physically abusive and violent as men does NOT absolve male abusers of their crimes. Nor does it dismiss female victims claims of domestic violence towards them by said male abusers.

It just means that women are capable of doing bad things to people just like men.

the only thing that needs to be said about *that* trail

motherofpetticoats:

This is what we mean by ‘the patriarchy does not protect all men’. Johnny Depp’s abuse threatens the idea that a man cannot be abused by a woman. It is anathema to the concept of the 'strong masculine’. Supporting Depp is feminism. Supporting Depp is supporting victims of abuse, regardless of the victim’s gender. If you refuse to protect a man from abuse because the abuser is a woman, you’re not ensuring a woman’s dominance, you’re ensuring an abuser’s dominance.

Here’s how easy it is to spread dis-information on Twitter despite an on-going TELEVISED trial

image

ReemDepp” quoted something that Johnny Depp said about his kids while on the stand. The issue is that they did not quote the whole thing, leaving the door open to shit holes of false propaganda such as “popculturedie in2009

This account goes on to claim Depp is a liar because there are public records of Amber and his kids together and texts from Lily-Rose at the beginning and during of their relationship. (Still based off the “ReemDepp” quote tweet.)

So, is Johnny Depp a liar ?
Are we fucking stupid ?
Do we live in a shit world ?
Was a televised trial a good idea ?

Well. No Depp isn’t a liar. Yes we are fucking stupid. Yes we live in a shit world. Yes a televised trial was a good idea. And here’s why:

Johnny Depp was asked “And at the end of your relationship, how was Ms.Heard’s relationship with your children ?”

Depp went on to reply: “Non-existent. (..) My children refused to be around her anymore.”

He never insinuated that his kids never had a relationship with Heard. He never said that they always hated her.

Weirdos on social media put words in his mouth and as usual, distorted the truth.

All it takes people to do is pay attention, open their ears and I beg.. shut - the - fuck - up.

i-am-mldy:

Feminism is believing Johnny. It is believing victims. He is literally going against the patriarchal status quo by doing this. What Amber is doing is setting back women so far. I would rather die than fall for those obvious white women crocodile tears. The evidence is right there bitch

Right now, and for a “limited time,” anyone in the United States between the age of 13 and 21 can apply for a free Brooklyn Public Library eCard, which gives access to 350,000 eBooks, 200,000 audiobooks, and online databases.

Teens who want to apply for the free eCard can send an email to BooksUnbanned@bklynlibrary.org or a message to @bklynfuture on Instagram.

The original article is from April 15th and as far as I know is still active.

Also, just so everyone over the age of 21 knows, the Brooklyn Public Library is one of the few libraries in the United States that lets you get a library card without being a resident. If you are a resident of New York (anywhere in the state, afaik), a card is free. Anywhere else in the US, and it’s $50 a year for a virtual card like the one being given away for teens. If you live in an area with a smaller library, this could be a great way to get access to a much larger selection of books in Overdrive/Libby, and is way cheaper than something like Kindle Unlimited or Audible.

*copies your speech patterns to show you i like you*

Fun fact! This is a thing that everyone does, largely unintentionally. It’s part of a thing in linguistics called “acommodation theory” - in which people’s speech patterns and accents converge when they are  getting along and diverge when they are not getting along.

This is mostly a subconscious process, although some people do it consciously. (One way to keep your emotional distance from other people is to make sure you don’t mirror their speech patterns, for example).

The extent to which the speech patterns are mirrored varies person by person - accents are more likely to be mirrored by people who have lower levels of emotional attachment to specific regional accents - for instance, people who are speaking a second language are more likely to mirror an entire accent, where people who are speaking a first language are more likely to mirror things like expressions and turns of phrase rather than actual accent.

Doing this is no way indicates you are not being yourself or that you are mocking the other person. It’s a natural human phenomenon. We try to be like one another - we are social creatures. You can even mirror things from shows and podcasts if you feel an affinity to a character or person!

WHAT THE FUCK THERES A TERM FOR IT
